The Plans for the 4th

Well, the plans for our weekend were detailed to me by an ER doctor this a.m. Rest, more rest, and take your vicodin.

I got up this morning, ate breakfast, and left for work as normal. When I got into the car, I noticed a sharp pain in my lower right side, but I didn't really pay much attention because pain happens. However, by the time I got to work (about 7 minutes), it was getting worse and I felt like I was either going to be sick or pass out.

When the assistant manager got to the bank, I told her that I wasn't feeling good and probably would not stay. The pain got much more intense and I called Sir Nottaguy-Imadad to come and get me and take me to the ER.

After several blood tests, a CT scan and abdominal ultrasound, the only thing they could come up with was a possible pulled groin muscle. Oh, yay!! (I'm truly glad that they didn't find anything catastrophic, but REALLY?? A pulled muscle???)

Sir and I have decided that we are just going to veg tomorrow away and hope that I feel better quickly.

Silly Child!

Yes, Folks! That is a pacifier and an empty bottle in her mouth at the same time! And a big grin because she knows she's being silly!

Catchin' Up

Hi, Friends! I really haven't forgotten how to write OR that I do have a blog that needs attention periodically.

I've been reading some of your blogs and you keep talking about how you are relaxing and enjoying the summer. About being glad that the school year has ended. About sleeping in. And reading. And soaking in pools. I have a question...

WHERE DO YOU FIND TIME????

My life has taken a definite turn for the BUSY!

We have had grandkids here several evenings. (And we love it, but it's definitely NOT quiet when they are around!)

The pastor asked me to make 40 prayer mantles for a special men's service. And then when he ran out, asked if I could make 6 or 10 more. (This involved two trips to Berlin, OH to Zinck's Fabric Outlet, round trip 2.5 hours each, and two trips to WalMart for thread, as well as the sewing involved.)

I've still got to make a dress for Mistie for a friend's wedding. AND I want to do some outfits for Eva. AND I'm working on a quilt for Abby. AND I need to make some new skirts for myself. AND Gracie will be here in November, and I have to get something ready for her.

Somewhere in all of this fun, I, also, have to work my regular 40 hr. week at the bank. (I almost don't have time to work! However, I can't afford to quit and just have fun!) AND keep up with Mom's shenanigans at the nursing center. (Most recent?? She took a tumble backwards and cut her head on the bed rail. What was she doing??? Rummaging in her closet trying to look busy so a visitor that she had might get the hint to leave! Now she's not allowed to get into her closet or dresser drawers without an aide present to help her. I told her not to be so polite, or expect people to take such subtle hints--just nicely ask them to leave and give them a specific date they can come back.)

I'm currently making food for Sir Nottaguy-Imadad's family reunion, that was moved ahead 4 weeks, and is tomorrow!!! (Advance notice is NOT a strong point in his family.)

Oh, yeah, we've had a rash of graduations between church family and co-workers. AND Becky leaves on Monday for Paraguay for a six month missions trip. (I'm looking forward to reading her blog as she updates from Paraguay!)

I have managed to get some reading in, but it's taking me a long time to get through books.

I told Sir that he was not allowed to agree to anything for July 4th. I have the day off, he has the day off. We are NOT working on any house projects! We are not running here and there keeping anybody else happy! We ARE taking the day off! We will get up when we get good and ready (or when Sparky won't let us ignore his plea to go outside any longer!). We will eat when we get hungry. We will veg in front of a video all day, if we so desire! AND if we decide to take a 2 hour nap in the middle of the afternoon, we will! It will not only be a National Holiday, it is going to be a personal one!!!

Well, the timer just went off to let me know the cake should be done. I guess I'd better go pay attention to the food stuff.

Have a good weekend. I'll try to post a little more often.

The small print says "When sleep is a thing of the past".

Too Good NOT To Post!!

Sir Nottaguy-Imadad is a wonderful husband, dad, and grandfather, however he has always had this long-standing demand that he never be asked to change a diaper. (He changed Jessica's diaper once when she was about 18 months old--she stood up and walked out of it, and he declared that the one and only time!)

Yesterday that all changed!!! Eva and David Riley had to be picked up from the babysitter about 2 1/2 hours before I was due to get off of work, that meant that Gweag (Sir's grandfather name) HAD to do it. The babysitter was really good and had changed Eva's diaper before Sir left with them, but ....

About 45 minutes after they got home, Eva started fussing and squirming. Sir started talking to her and she just whimper-smiled at him. He decided to check her diaper by pulling the leg out a little AND stuck his finger into a pile of poo that was creeping to the edge!! (As he is telling me this last night he had the best "little disgusted boy" look I've ever seen!)

Sir became Eva's knight in shining armor--he braved the diaper bag to find a diaper and wipes and, also, pulled the kitchen trash can in beside him (to throw the diaper in and just in case he felt the need to hurl--his words not mine), and proceeded to clean her little self up and put a dry diaper on her.

His final words on the subject were "What else was I going to do?? She couldn't sit in THAT for an hour and a half until you got home!"

I'm sooo proud of him!!! (I did promise him that we would try not to make a habit of putting him in that position!)

Creative

I know the picture is dark, but if you look closely you will see Eva (4.5 months old) holding her own bottle--with her feet.
This was too good NOT to share.

Say, What???

Me: David Riley, now that you have finished your breakfast, go upstairs, brush your teeth and wash your face and hands.

DR: 'Kay, Nana!

A few minutes elapse. DR comes back downstairs.

Me: Come closer, Boy, let me inspect you. Teeth good, hands good. Why is only the front of your face clean? Go wash the WHOLE face!

Papa: DR, did anyone ever tell you that EARS are a part of the face that needs washed?

DR: No. MAN!!! (As he leaves to wash the whole face!)
