Update on David Riley

Thanks so much for your prayers!

David Riley came through the flu with nothing more than a severly high fever, some body aches, and an overly runny nose! He was deemed well enough to go to church for both services yesterday (although by the end of the evening service he was DRAGGING!), so therefore Jessica was able to talk to ADULTS and pass off Eva to eager teenage arms!

Do you remember the days when you had been stuck at home for several days with a sick child and then all of a sudden they were starting to feel lots better and couldn't contain their energy any longer??? Add to that the fact that David Riley is a TALKER!!!!! Yeah, Jessica was almost in the throes of agony when we were there Saturday night.

Fun family times!

Now, if little Sprite would just quit lounging around and make her appearance, this Nana would have a full plate!

Prayer Please??

I just got back from a doctor's appointment with my grandson, David Riley. He tested positive for Influenza A, which means he most likely has H1N1. At this point, he's running a very high temperature and is feeling dizzy and disoriented.

Pray that he will get well quickly, and, also, pray that no one else in the family comes down with it. His baby sister, Eva, and my mom are both in the "danger ages" according to most health professionals.

I will keep you updated as I am able. This promises to be a long seige.

Have You Ever...

...wondered why the smell of Fall is so tantalizing???

...just really concentrated on the flavor and texture of a piece of food in your mouth???

...looked into the eyes of a baby and swore you could see an angel smiling back???

...read something that struck you as so profound that you had to go back and reread it???

...sat and watched a ladybug/soy bug wander across a surface just to find a little bit of moisture???

...felt the anticipation of an event so strongly that everything else in your life seems to be moving in slow-motion???

...really concentrated on the way your hands feel when you rub in a good lotion???

...had so much fun talking to someone that you only have a distant acquaintance with, that you decide you need to spend more time with them???

Recipe Help???

At one time I had a recipe (or had seen one) for a casserole that used smoked sausage, acorn squash and apples. I'd really like to make this casserole sometime soon.

Does anyone out there have a recipe they'd like to share???

A Real Groaner

Here's my funny for the day, as told to me by one of my customers:

As you know, Mahatma Gandhi, usually walked everywhere barefoot. This caused a great amount of calluses to grow on his feet. He, also, ate very little food, which caused him to be frail. And the odd diet that he did eat, caused him to have bad breath.

This made him a super callused, fragile mystic hexed with halitosis.

An Unusual Sighting...

The other night while I was sitting in Kroger's parking lot (trying to get myself to go in and do a quick shop) I spotted a cute little black and red Smart car---with a St. Bernard in the passenger seat. He wasn't just sitting there, he was smooshed up against the window and his face was plastered on the inside of the windshield.

A Little Of This, A Little Of That

1. Gentlemen, if you are a beard-wearer (and even if you are not), please get some help from your wife, daughter, or barber in keeping the hair that grows in your ears and from your nostrils from twining into your beard. If you do not get some help, please do NOT come to my teller window to do your banking. For some reason this makes my stomach want to eject its contents.

2. Birthday cards for little kids ought to always have stickers and a coloring poster! How often do you hear of a child asking for a birthday card just like that???

3. I'm getting a little excited about Sprite Lemon's appearance. Her Gweag is hoping that she will come a little early (like Nov. 1).

4. I love the colors of Fall. It is so pretty. God is so lavish in His use of colors at this time of year.

5. Nothing thrills my heart as much as Eva's big grin and squeal when I pick her up at her babysitter's house.

6. I play this little game with Abby, Jonathan and Hunter to get really good hugs. They try to "pop my head off" with a big squeeze. I think Jonathan may just have succeeded this time. I've had a kink in my neck since Sunday night.

7. I'm having fun plotting the books I'm planning on buying a certain almost 12 year old. I love the fact that my grandkids are readers!

8. I had an interesting conversation about golf with David Riley on Saturday. Evidently he enjoys hitting golf balls, but since he doesn't have any clubs, he uses hammers. "You can get a lot of air on a golf ball if you hit it with a sledge hammer, Nana!"

9. Mistie is looking forward to the ending of her evening sickness. She really wants to be able to like the taste and texture of foods again!

10. Two years after the death of my Dad, I still have trouble remembering not to ask to talk to him when I talk to my step-mom. Oh, how I miss him!

11. It's really, REALLY nice to have a working computer again.

12. I'm hungry for pumpkin donuts. I think I'm going to stop at Tim Horton's on my way to work.

Have a great day!

Guess Who I Saw???

I went to our church's Hayride & Barbeque this evening and, lo and behold, Eva and I got to see Jaylon, Jewel's absolutely adorable grandson. The babies were having a wonderful time playing with toys and sharing snacks.
